MiCLU are proud to present the Year 2 evaluation for our Breaking the Chains project, an interim evaluation report considering the challenges of the last year posed by Covid-19, as well as the project’s successes and key learnings.
Breaking the Chains is a partnership project run by MiCLU and Shpresa Programme dedicated to improving outcomes for Albanian children and young people seeking asylum in the UK.
The project uniquely captures how effective legal representation can be provided to children and young people vulnerable to exploitation, placing young people at the centre of practice and amplifying their voices to share learning. The report considers the successes of this approach and looks at what more is needed to create effective change

To contribute toward the Covid-19 appeal to support young asylum seekers contact Esme Madill at esmem@islingtonlaw.org or click here.
Young asylum seekers have been increasingly isolated during the restrictions of the pandemic. A regular check-in can provide much-needed support. If you are able to help, please contact Esme Madill at esmem@islingtonlaw.org.uk.
If you are an immigration and asylum lawyer and have capacity to take on the case of a young person please contact Esme Madill at Esmem@islingtonlaw.org or Gurpinder Khanba at gurpinderk@islingtonlaw.org.uk.
Asylum seekers are required to report regularly to the Home Office and for young people who have faced traumatic experiences this can pose a number of difficulties. We would like to set up a system of supporting young people to report and monitoring the challenges they face. If you are interested in joining or helping build this new pilot project please contact Anna Skehan at annas@islingtonlaw.org.uk.
